Something that definitely helps me to get through my 9-5 lifestyle during the winter months is having a dinner reservation, trust me, there’s nothing better.

Surely everyone I know must feel the same satisfaction I do knowing you’re going to get a top notch dinner, with no cooking preparation or cleaning after! IT’S HEAVEN!

I’d never been to Winstanley House, and after arriving I was so disappointed that I hadn’t gone sooner. I never imaged that in Braustone, Leicester this beautiful manor would be tucked away ready to feed me some incredible treats 😍

As soon as we got there, we were led to a bar area whilst our table as being prepared. I never thought the decor of a building would be make me feel so incredibly underdressed, and I had actually made an effort! The decor was exquisite. I felt like I was in a film, or like a celebrity, a successful business woman all rolled into one. I sat down with my grapefruit gin and ginger beer wondering what could possibly make me feel any happier, and then we were called to our table!

Starter: Beetroot salad with honey & hazelnut

This was incredibly refreshing, so flavoursome which I really didn’t expect. The walnuts complimented the beetroot perfectly, giving it a rich at satisfying flavour, I felt if I’d had any more it might have ruined my main! Beautifully balanced!

Main: Courgette flan with cauliflower purée, ash baked sweet potato & roasted vegetables

Ahhh I loved this so much, when I first saw the dish I did think “omg I need twice this much” because I’m a little piggy, but the flavours were incredible. The courgette flan was actually rather hearty, and paired with the potatoes and roast vegetables I was in heaven. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a meal so slow, I wanted to savour every bite.

Dessert: Tea & Cake victoria sponge cake, strawberries & earl grey ice cream

Considering I’m a savoury over sweet type of person, this dessert was my favourite part of the meal. The early grey ice-cream was so interesting, I wish you could buy it from the shop! (if you can and I’m unaware someone please tell me). I always find tea flavoured things quite underwhelming, but there was no denying that this tasted like earl grey, and it wasn’t sickly which was my first fear. I would 100% go back just to have this again.

Overall, I really enjoyed this meal, it was nice going to quality over quantity for a change, as I tend to be the girl that likes a huge portion for under a fiver! I’d definitely recommend Black Iron for an anniversary meal, birthday celebration or a treat yourself day.

Considering the location, presentation and quality of the food Black Iron’s pricing is incredibly fair. All this for the small price of £22, and you get to feel super fancy just being there for free!

❤ I AM MOVING OUT WITH MY LOVE! ❤

We haven’t found the house yet (lol), but we are looking every minute of every day to see what’s online. Does anyone else find it baffling that estate agents want professional people that work full-time but too many close at 5 and don’t open weekends?

WHAT IS THIS CRUEL GAME YOU ARE PLAYING WITH ME PAL!?

My other favourite situation is when a lovely new house is listed…

*DING*

"Ohhh, this is lovely! Let me give them a call"

*RING RING GURL*

"Good morning (insert estate agents name), How can I help?"

"Hi! I saw you've just listed a 2 bed house on Blahblah road and I would love to book a viewing as soon as you can"

"Ohh.. really sorry that house has just been reserved"

"Oh? But it was put online 10 minutes ago?"

"Yep it's gone"

CRAP. SHIT. FUCK. WHAT. HELP.

But now that’s off my chest, I can show you all the crazy, sick, beautiful, lovely, exciting things that I’m going to buy for this fancy new pad I haven’t found yet…

Eyelash Fringe Shower Curtain £10

Oh so insta darling, I cannot wait to dance in the shower and feel like a princess wrapping myself in this beautiful peachy dream. What a bloody steal for £10!! I want to buy it now, but I need to make sure the house I get has a shower curtain (#goals)

Marston Hanging Mirror £40

I absolutely love a Marston mirror, I love anything vintage, leather looking and rusty so clearly it’s right up my street. John Lewis sell a lot of mirrors like this, but I’m getting mine from Fashion World as its a steal at £40! I probably shouldn’t put this in the bathroom with a frilly shower curtain…

Heather Grey Jersey Duvet Cover £45.50

Of course Urban Outfitters made another appearance…

Can you even image how soft this is gonna feel? JERSEY MATERIAL!

I love how minimal this is, and I think Nat will approve too as he loves a bit of soft grey. How cruel would I be to make him sleep in a floral colourful duvet every night? To be honest I don’t think he would even notice!

GARNES over-the-door mirror £39

If you don’t go on a trip to IKEA and eat Swedish meatballs are you actually even moving out?

There is no doubt in my mind that my new home will feature a lot of IKEA bits, I mean, every time I go there I buy numerous candles and tons of tupperware… but maybe I should get some stuff I actually need!

This mirror is brilliant, for the obvious fact that it hangs over the door and is space efficient, HUZZAH! I love the two handles it includes too, YAY FOR MORE PLACES TO HANG MY CRAP.

Heart of House Sherbourne 12 Piece Dinner Set £17

I bloody love duck egg, it’s such a beautiful minimal colour and I enjoy its subtlety mucho. I don’t think I would ever buy a dinner set that doesn’t support this design, as I am such a messy pup and having the modern high sides helps me look high society whilst keeping my grub where it’s suppose to be!

I think I should stop here, otherwise I think I’ll get a bit carried away. I am so excited to start purchasing everything, and decorating my home with my bestest pal that I also give kisses to. What a great way to start 2017!

Also if anyone knows where I can get a huge banging soft rug hit me up because we (I) need all the help we (I) can get!

xoxoxox

Are you feeling Christmassy? I’m feeling DAMN Christmassy.

We’ve finally touched down in December and now it’s all about mulled wine, blankets and endless amounts of food.

So what’s better than trying out all the new Christmas menus our favourite food retailers have to offer? Nothing I tell you, nothing. Especially when you get to meet some of this lovely lot…

I was invited by the lovely PizzaExpress to check out their newly renovated digs and to try their new Christmas menu. What’s really cool about PizzaExpress is that each of their restaurants are individually designed, and are usually based on well known places, people or historical events from the area. I couldn’t wait to check out what they had done with the place and get my hands on some new fancy food!

Starter:
Terrina Festa: “A soft terrine of salmon, crab and prawn, served with rocket, house dressing, a wedge of lemon, fresh parsley and flat bread”

Fresh and fishy… in a good way! The nicest starter i’ve had in a while. This was incredibly refreshing and you get a good portion of terrine to use with PizzaExpress’ amazing bread. I would definitely recommend this to fish lovers, ridiculously tasty!

Main Course:

Cauliflower Cheese Romana: “Roasted cauliflower florets, Pecorino cheese and garlic oil on a creamy cheese & mustard sauce base with pink Tropea onions and pine kernels, finished with fresh parsley and shaved Gran Milano cheese”

I had the Cauliflower Cheese Romana (within minimal cheese hello lactose intolerance) and it was INCREDIBLE! For my fellow lactose intolerant sufferers, you know when you sometimes play the risky game of eat the dairy if you think the food is worth it? This is worth it. I will say I wasn’t fully convinced with cauliflower on a pizza to begin with, but I am never looking back. The mustard in the base was probably my favourite part, it gave the pizza a warming spicy kick… now I’m drooling. Yummy.

Dessert:

Snowball Dough Balls: “Our famous Dough Balls with cinnamon and icing sugar, served with a vanilla cream dip and a chocolate straw”

Due to stuffing my face with the starter and main there wasn’t much room left for dessert, but did I let that stop me? HELL NO! I absolutely love the famous dough balls at PizzaExpress, so this was a good choice for me. This is great as a sharer as I feel I couldn’t eat al the cream dip to myself (though I did try).

Now I know you’re all frantically putting your shoes and coat on to get down to PizzaExpress as soon as you possibly can, but wait! PizzaExpress have given me a 30% off voucher (now expired) for my readers! Enjoy your little Christmas treat! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙂

*A huge thank you to PizzaExpress for inviting me along for a complimentary meal. All words are spoken from the heart and accurate.

It’s been almost a month since my last blog post, why am I such a waste? Amsterdam has thrown me out of my writing rut, so I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoyed reminiscing about my trip with my bean pods (hey sam & ray)

I love me some European city breaks, so much so I decided to take 2 in one month, I know, so cheeky of me. I spoke about what I loved about Copenhagen, and now it’s Amsterdam’s time to shine.

WHY I BLOODY LOVE AMSTERDAM

  • Amsterdam Icebar

So this place was incredible, have you been in the situation when you don’t expect much from something because everyone tells you how good it is? I thought it would be overhyped, and be a huge letdown. I was wrong. For €15 we had 2 drinks and a cocktail (shout out to the shot of sambucca that warmed me the hell up), and 30 minutes in the Icebar, which believe me was more than enough. There is a backstory too which I wasn’t expecting, I’ll save the element of surprise for you all xoxo

  • Ripley’s Believe It Or Not

This was recommended by a bezzie, and I am glad I went. Unfortunately we were all pooped by the weekends antics that when we got there we spent over an hour in the café trying to evaluate our lives! This was €17 and was super interactive and interesting, the spinning tunnel was 100% my favourite part!

  • Red Light District

This was an experience to say the least. I have to say, I never thought that I would be able to say that I paid €2 to watch stand in a hot sardine can with two of my best pals watching people fucking, we proceeded to critique their form and it made me wonder about their backstory… I wonder when they first fucked? When would be their last? Who knows…

I would also hugely recommend the Red Light Secret’s museum, it was incredibly interesting and a bargain at €8. There is some hilarious factors such as a dress up photo booth and a confessions wall, shout out to the girl that had a foursome with 3 guys in Bali, they all had diarrhoea due to the food and they woke up in each others poo… I’m gonna finish this one here.

  • Halloween

Halloween in Amsterdam is something else, we went to a crazy ass party called Space and the commitment everyone was had was the best i’d ever seen. I can’t really comment too much on the night as I have 0 pictures and can’t remember all the weird and wonderful sights I experienced, instead have a picture of my lady gaga born this way tribute.

  • Sex Museum

For €4 this is a steal. I had such a laugh here, I can’t say I learnt much because I was laughing at all the interactive displays and pictures of people doing it, but there is a massive penis model you can have a picture with and if that’s not worth €4 then I don’t know what is!

  • Cocos Outback

Damn Coco you sure know how to show 3 girls a good time, 50% off food on a Monday!!! With vegetarian options!!! I didn’t realise how hard it would be to not eat meat (or cheese, I can’t eat cheese) in Amsterdam, but Cocos Outback saved the day with incredible hot chocolates and food 4 daiz. You NEED to check this place out. Massive foodie rep over here.

  • Dem Views

Views, just views. Amsterdam is a stunning place, and there is no doubt in my mind about going back. If you’re not into the legalised mary jane then please just go for the culture, the arts and the museums. To date, Amsterdam is still one of the most beautiful places I have been, and the strangest!
