Are you feeling Christmassy? I’m feeling DAMN Christmassy.

We’ve finally touched down in December and now it’s all about mulled wine, blankets and endless amounts of food.

So what’s better than trying out all the new Christmas menus our favourite food retailers have to offer? Nothing I tell you, nothing. Especially when you get to meet some of this lovely lot…

I was invited by the lovely PizzaExpress to check out their newly renovated digs and to try their new Christmas menu. What’s really cool about PizzaExpress is that each of their restaurants are individually designed, and are usually based on well known places, people or historical events from the area. I couldn’t wait to check out what they had done with the place and get my hands on some new fancy food!

Starter:
Terrina Festa: “A soft terrine of salmon, crab and prawn, served with rocket, house dressing, a wedge of lemon, fresh parsley and flat bread”

Fresh and fishy… in a good way! The nicest starter i’ve had in a while. This was incredibly refreshing and you get a good portion of terrine to use with PizzaExpress’ amazing bread. I would definitely recommend this to fish lovers, ridiculously tasty!

Main Course:

Cauliflower Cheese Romana: “Roasted cauliflower florets, Pecorino cheese and garlic oil on a creamy cheese & mustard sauce base with pink Tropea onions and pine kernels, finished with fresh parsley and shaved Gran Milano cheese”

I had the Cauliflower Cheese Romana (within minimal cheese hello lactose intolerance) and it was INCREDIBLE! For my fellow lactose intolerant sufferers, you know when you sometimes play the risky game of eat the dairy if you think the food is worth it? This is worth it. I will say I wasn’t fully convinced with cauliflower on a pizza to begin with, but I am never looking back. The mustard in the base was probably my favourite part, it gave the pizza a warming spicy kick… now I’m drooling. Yummy.

Dessert:

Snowball Dough Balls: “Our famous Dough Balls with cinnamon and icing sugar, served with a vanilla cream dip and a chocolate straw”

Due to stuffing my face with the starter and main there wasn’t much room left for dessert, but did I let that stop me? HELL NO! I absolutely love the famous dough balls at PizzaExpress, so this was a good choice for me. This is great as a sharer as I feel I couldn’t eat al the cream dip to myself (though I did try).

Now I know you’re all frantically putting your shoes and coat on to get down to PizzaExpress as soon as you possibly can, but wait! PizzaExpress have given me a 30% off voucher (now expired) for my readers! Enjoy your little Christmas treat! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙂

*A huge thank you to PizzaExpress for inviting me along for a complimentary meal. All words are spoken from the heart and accurate.

I’m still beaming from my lovely weekend, and not just because I went to IKEA (sejfhns, kdfsjd I LOVE IT!) but because I went to an amazing blogging event called #EastMidsMeetUp based at Manhattan 34 in Leicester!

I have only just stepped into the blogging scene, very new and intrigued by everything I read and who I meet, so I was pretty much pooping my pants heading to the meet up alone, especially because I knew that there were going to be plenty of people I hadn’t met (which by the way, was 99% of the people)

I walked up to Manhattan to join the queue, and thankfully arrived the same time as my gal pal Izzy! (A Dose Of Chatter). With a sigh of relief, I collected my icebreaker and entered the event.

It was the coolest vibe, all my anxious feelings were washed away when I heard Becky Bruce‘s beautiful voice narrating the wave of bloggers capturing their cocktails! I realised I was surrounded by like-minded people, and I had absolutely nothing to worry about.

I went to the bar with Izzy and scoured the menu for anything that included gin. The Secret Garden was absolute heaven. It was so good I basically chugged it whilst I walked over to Angel Eyes’ beauty corner, which was around a 10 second stroll… Oops.

I was lucky enough to have had the chance to trial individual lashes by Angel Eyes. Founder and director Marie (who is an absolute babe by the way) told us about their process, any salon that uses Angel Eye’s lashes need to go through thorough training, so if you’re like me and have seen/heard horror stories of girls losing their eyelashes, feel confident that you can trust Marie’s system, I have been wearing my lashes for 5 days now, not one has fell out and I forget I even have them. Well, until I catch myself in the mirror!

Now I don’t want to over excite you, but there was also a raffle, YES A RAFFLE! Amazing prizes from Peter’s Pizzeria vouchers, tea set for 2 with baked goods, a voucher from Angel Eyes for the bomb-ass eyelashes above, and the mother of all prizes… The Happiness Planner.

Of course, Izzy who mentioned to me moments before her ticket was called out THREE TIMES that she never wins anything bagged herself some vodka jelly, the angel eyes voucher AND The Happiness Planner! I will forgive her one day for stealing my dream. All wasn’t lost though, as I scored myself a No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush which I am obsessed over already <3

So if that wasn’t enough of a highlight, gal pal Izzy and I got chatting to a couple of girls from Danique Hair‘s pop up stand (shout out to Jazzie and Bray) and Bray (more like bae) transformed my hair from a used toilet brush into amazing bouncy curls! She was also rocking an amazing pastel green colour, and I cannot wait for her to get her hands on my hair!

Finally, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Emma (Carpe Diem Emmie), Kirstie (Behind The Scent), Lianne (The Brunette Says) and Kirsty (Kirsty Ralph) for organising this amazing event, for the INCREDIBLE GOODIE BAG* and raising money for Rainbows Hospice and Bowel Cancer UK. You girls are absolute inspirations, and I feel extra lucky to have met Emma, Kirstie and Charlotte first in this world we call blogging, because they have opened to many doors for me, meeting amazing girls as I did at this event, so thank you all!

To the girls I didn’t get to speak to, you are all fab, and I cannot wait to get to know you all at the next event!

* just want to give a separate shout out to the amazing goodie bags we received! I was honestly over the moon!

  • Matalan – ‘Love is’ wall hanger, heart shaped candle holder AND Mason Jar (could they be any more amazing?!)
  • LAB2 – brush set (cruelty free and SO GOOD)
  • No7 – Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes pencil – (so glam I love it)

IT’S FRIYAY WHADDUP WORLD!

I’ve been a bit crappy with getting my blog going, mainly due to everything going on in the world of Frost at the minute, but TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY SO I’M AS HAPPY AS A PIG IN POOP!

But anyway, this blog isn’t to talk about everything I’ve got coming up, you’ll see that soon enough. Todays blog is about food, I know, typical me.

So I’ve told you that I’ve started Slimming World, and I want to start documenting some of my recipes. Well, this one knocked my fookin’ socks off and I can’t wait to eat it again.

This, is roasted haddock and potato bake. This, is also SYN FREE!

Now I know you’re all super excited on how to make this, and I tell you it’s as easy as taking a piss. So here’s a list of the ingredients you need. Please bare in mind that this is 4 portions!

  • Low calorie cooking spray
  • 600g floury potatoes such as Maris Piper, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped (stinky)
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 500g ripe tomatoes, you guessed it, finely chopped
  • 4 skinless and boneless haddock fillets
  • 2 tsp finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 1.5 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 2 tsp finely chopped fresh oregano, plus a couple of sprigs to garnish
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
  • finely grated zest and juice from an unwaxed lemon
  • 150ml boiling veggie stock
  • 1tbsp capers, drained

Now I know this looks like a bucket load of stuff, but for the size and amount of portions it’s a budget friendly dish, except capers, them bitches be expensive.

What you gotta do?

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees, Fan 180 degrees, Gas 6.
  2. Spray a medium-sized ovenproof dish with your spray and add two layers of the potatoes and onions, sprinkle each later with garlic, salt and pepper
  3. Use more spray oil and scatter three quarters of the tomatoes.
  4. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 mins to an hour (trust me the wait is worth it!)
  5. Season the fish fillets on both sides and place them on top of the potatoes
  6. Lightly spray the fish with low calorie cooking spray and sprinkle the herbs, remaining tomatoes and lemon zest and juice over the fish and potatoes
  7. Pour in the veggie stock and add capers!
  8. Cook for a further 15 minutes until the fish is just cooked thorough, then garnish with oregano sprigs
  9. Finally, SERVE WITH SOME TOP CLASS VEG!

Now normally the meals I make tend to take less than half an hour, mainly due to impatience and skill, but this one I just had to dry. This is my favourite Slimming World dish to date.

Enjoy!

Afternoon everyone, I hope wherever you are is a lot more appealing that what I can see outside of my window. Rain, rain, rain.

But, in a couple of weeks I’m heading to Brighton to a wedding, and I’ve never really been to a wedding before! That’s a lie, I’ve been to a wedding that I was also part of, but not as a guest. So understandably I’ve been a panicking pile of poop.

It’s my boyfriend’s brothers wedding, and although I’ve been with my boyfriend for some time now, I haven’t met a lot of his family. There’s so many reasons for me to panic right now!

I checked out Missguided’s “Missbrided” section, but it’s not very me, it almost seems too dressed up for a wedding, but what do I know!

I hit up ASOS to give me some ideas, and now I have 2!

So I don’t know the vibe of the wedding, as in, do I wear a nice chilled maxi and some sandals or do I go for a fitted dress? Well thanks to ASOS’s recent sale, I didn’t have to choose 😉

Formal wedding, girlfriend of the best man dress:

dress1

This beautiful dress from Closet is just my sort of dress, I love a kimono vibe and it’ll help my arms look thinner (WOO!)

It’s delicately wrapped around the waist, singeing in just the right places (hopefully) to make me look a lot more glamorous than I actually am. I adore this print too. It’s so summery and bright, and I’m normally a khaki/navy kinda girl so I’m really excited to try this, at a bargain of £30 too I might just keep it even if it doesn’t make the cut!

Super chill maxi-ng and relaxing (I know, I tried too hard):

dress2

This amazing belted maxi tea dress from Glamorous (in stock in petite) melted my heart, I am in love with the print, and I am desperate to capture a bohemian vibe for Brighton, not sure why, just am! I got this at an absolute bargain of £27.

What’s even better about this dress is that I don’t have to worry about wearing heels, because everyone knows a maxi life is lived in sandals.

Massive props to ASOS for helping a sista out with wedding woes, but I will point out I ordered these before they sent out 10% off sale items for their website being down!

Don’t worry though ASOS, love ya always xo
