It’s almost the most commercialised, tacky day of the year!

I kid…

What I mean to say was… Soon it shall be the 14th February, the day St Valentine (supposedly) shot you in the ass and you found some love.

Whether you’re spending it with the one you love, your mum or your best girl friends, Veeno is definitely the place to spend it!

Veeno was brought to us by Nino and Andrea, lovers of football, quality wine and authentic food. They only opened their first wine bar in 2013 and have taken the UK by storm, opening 10 bars since then! I was ecstatic to hear that one was opening in Leicester as I love the Nottingham one so much!

I was kindly invited along to their Selezione Wine Tasting back in November, and it was amazing! It consisted of two white wines, one rose and two reds, accompanied by a platter of appetisers that were specifically chosen to compliment each of the wines. All of this was finished off with a dessert wine and their homemade tiramisu (WHICH WAS TO DIE FOR). All of Veeno’s wines come from their family vineyard in Sicily, Italy, ensuring only the best quality wines make it from their vines to your glass!

It was such a great experience to meet other bloggers, bring my love along and try so many different wines, I never knew I liked rosé until I went Veeno! But I am a red girl at heart ngl.

Anywho, back to the point!

Get booked in as soon as you can, even if it’s not for Valentine’s day. It’s great for all social situations, I even went after work to catch up with my gal pal! (hey Izzy) where we tucked in on a mini cheese board and talked the night away at a little instagrammable table decorated with corks! Such a beautiful place I tell ya.

Veeno really is the perfect setting for a Valentine’s date – for only £26.90pp you and your significant other can partake in this incredible Selezione experience, I am definitely going to book in again. They also cater for vegans & vegetarians too so you wont feel like you’re missing out!

Also, if anyone wants to join me on the Blind Wine Tasting they have on offer, let me know! I’m desperate to try it!

I WENT TO NEW YORK!

Did you?

Hell yeah I did!

I was lucky enough to be asked by my amazing work place to photograph students on their epic journey through NYC, capturing their thoughts and emotions whilst going on this life-changing trip.

It was an honour to be asked (and not just because it was all paid for), because I never thought I would be able to afford to go to New York myself. I did a lot of work out there, so I didn’t get too much free time to explore the wonders of the city that never sleeps… but I will fill you in on what I love about what I saw of NYC!

#1 The well groomed dogs of New York

I cannot tell you how many beautiful dogs I saw in New York, but I made sure to point out every single one of them to my colleagues… I’m sure they found it endearing. I am a huge fan of The Dogist and it felt so amazing to be surrounded by the potential models on 5th/6th avenue <3

#2 They get some good ass snow

So I was there from the 3rd – 10th January and the weather ranged from 8 degrees to -10 degrees C (WOT!). Luckily I packed for everything because I am always so cold. I’m so thankful that my mama got me the best coat ever from Urban Outfitters and thermals for Christmas! Although, I was not thankful that I was wearing my new Jordan’s that day… My feet were ready to drop off!

#3 Oh my god the food

As a pescatarian, I was worried that I might struggle with meals, but I had everything ranging from a high class sushi dinner to a salmon roll in a Canadian bar. I miss the food every day and just writing about it is genuinely making my mouth water! This was fried Country Catfish with tartare sauce, corn bread, coleslaw and green beans. Oh how I miss you Brother Jimmy’s BBQ!

#4 NBA

I’m a little shocked at myself that this is so far down the list! I know this isn’t strictly NYC rather than the entire USA, but I have been a massive basketball fan ever since I started playing at the age of 11. I’ve always wanted to watch a game and I literally had tears in my eyes at my first Knicks game. It was the most surreal, insane experience that I couldn’t put a price on ($59, cha-ching) and I can’t wait to go back again. It was a shame the Knicks lost though, but I was more than happy to see Anthony Davis dive head first into the crowd!

#5 The architecture

I don’t know if you know this but like, the buildings in America are REALLY big… They’re also stunning. I found myself stopping multiple times in the middle of my route to take it all in, and every conversation I observed felt like it was from a film because of the scenery. I was especially taken aback by the Statue of Liberty (I mean who isn’t) and looking at the Woolworth’s building, which was once the tallest building in New York. It’s pretty tiny now compared!
This trip was hectic to say the least, it was my first time in the US and I can’t wait to get back and explore some more. I feel pretty emotional looking at all my pictures, and I didn’t get any outfit pictures in front of a yellow cab! That’s probably what hurts the most…

❤ I AM MOVING OUT WITH MY LOVE! ❤

We haven’t found the house yet (lol), but we are looking every minute of every day to see what’s online. Does anyone else find it baffling that estate agents want professional people that work full-time but too many close at 5 and don’t open weekends?

WHAT IS THIS CRUEL GAME YOU ARE PLAYING WITH ME PAL!?

My other favourite situation is when a lovely new house is listed…

*DING*

"Ohhh, this is lovely! Let me give them a call"

*RING RING GURL*

"Good morning (insert estate agents name), How can I help?"

"Hi! I saw you've just listed a 2 bed house on Blahblah road and I would love to book a viewing as soon as you can"

"Ohh.. really sorry that house has just been reserved"

"Oh? But it was put online 10 minutes ago?"

"Yep it's gone"

CRAP. SHIT. FUCK. WHAT. HELP.

But now that’s off my chest, I can show you all the crazy, sick, beautiful, lovely, exciting things that I’m going to buy for this fancy new pad I haven’t found yet…

Eyelash Fringe Shower Curtain £10

Oh so insta darling, I cannot wait to dance in the shower and feel like a princess wrapping myself in this beautiful peachy dream. What a bloody steal for £10!! I want to buy it now, but I need to make sure the house I get has a shower curtain (#goals)

Marston Hanging Mirror £40

I absolutely love a Marston mirror, I love anything vintage, leather looking and rusty so clearly it’s right up my street. John Lewis sell a lot of mirrors like this, but I’m getting mine from Fashion World as its a steal at £40! I probably shouldn’t put this in the bathroom with a frilly shower curtain…

Heather Grey Jersey Duvet Cover £45.50

Of course Urban Outfitters made another appearance…

Can you even image how soft this is gonna feel? JERSEY MATERIAL!

I love how minimal this is, and I think Nat will approve too as he loves a bit of soft grey. How cruel would I be to make him sleep in a floral colourful duvet every night? To be honest I don’t think he would even notice!

GARNES over-the-door mirror £39

If you don’t go on a trip to IKEA and eat Swedish meatballs are you actually even moving out?

There is no doubt in my mind that my new home will feature a lot of IKEA bits, I mean, every time I go there I buy numerous candles and tons of tupperware… but maybe I should get some stuff I actually need!

This mirror is brilliant, for the obvious fact that it hangs over the door and is space efficient, HUZZAH! I love the two handles it includes too, YAY FOR MORE PLACES TO HANG MY CRAP.

Heart of House Sherbourne 12 Piece Dinner Set £17

I bloody love duck egg, it’s such a beautiful minimal colour and I enjoy its subtlety mucho. I don’t think I would ever buy a dinner set that doesn’t support this design, as I am such a messy pup and having the modern high sides helps me look high society whilst keeping my grub where it’s suppose to be!

I think I should stop here, otherwise I think I’ll get a bit carried away. I am so excited to start purchasing everything, and decorating my home with my bestest pal that I also give kisses to. What a great way to start 2017!

Also if anyone knows where I can get a huge banging soft rug hit me up because we (I) need all the help we (I) can get!

xoxoxox

Are you feeling Christmassy? I’m feeling DAMN Christmassy.

We’ve finally touched down in December and now it’s all about mulled wine, blankets and endless amounts of food.

So what’s better than trying out all the new Christmas menus our favourite food retailers have to offer? Nothing I tell you, nothing. Especially when you get to meet some of this lovely lot…

I was invited by the lovely PizzaExpress to check out their newly renovated digs and to try their new Christmas menu. What’s really cool about PizzaExpress is that each of their restaurants are individually designed, and are usually based on well known places, people or historical events from the area. I couldn’t wait to check out what they had done with the place and get my hands on some new fancy food!

Starter:
Terrina Festa: “A soft terrine of salmon, crab and prawn, served with rocket, house dressing, a wedge of lemon, fresh parsley and flat bread”

Fresh and fishy… in a good way! The nicest starter i’ve had in a while. This was incredibly refreshing and you get a good portion of terrine to use with PizzaExpress’ amazing bread. I would definitely recommend this to fish lovers, ridiculously tasty!

Main Course:

Cauliflower Cheese Romana: “Roasted cauliflower florets, Pecorino cheese and garlic oil on a creamy cheese & mustard sauce base with pink Tropea onions and pine kernels, finished with fresh parsley and shaved Gran Milano cheese”

I had the Cauliflower Cheese Romana (within minimal cheese hello lactose intolerance) and it was INCREDIBLE! For my fellow lactose intolerant sufferers, you know when you sometimes play the risky game of eat the dairy if you think the food is worth it? This is worth it. I will say I wasn’t fully convinced with cauliflower on a pizza to begin with, but I am never looking back. The mustard in the base was probably my favourite part, it gave the pizza a warming spicy kick… now I’m drooling. Yummy.

Dessert:

Snowball Dough Balls: “Our famous Dough Balls with cinnamon and icing sugar, served with a vanilla cream dip and a chocolate straw”

Due to stuffing my face with the starter and main there wasn’t much room left for dessert, but did I let that stop me? HELL NO! I absolutely love the famous dough balls at PizzaExpress, so this was a good choice for me. This is great as a sharer as I feel I couldn’t eat al the cream dip to myself (though I did try).

Now I know you’re all frantically putting your shoes and coat on to get down to PizzaExpress as soon as you possibly can, but wait! PizzaExpress have given me a 30% off voucher (now expired) for my readers! Enjoy your little Christmas treat! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙂

*A huge thank you to PizzaExpress for inviting me along for a complimentary meal. All words are spoken from the heart and accurate.

MIND2

When you’re feeling inspired by your needs? Yep, my needs were flowers and fries!

I love drawing, so much so that I tend to criticise everything I create. I hope this is a comment trait for all artists, because it stops me from doing what I love because I set such high expectations for myself. The proof is in the pudding. I’ve had this ‘CREATE’ section on my website since I started my blog in early June, and this is the first post, in September.

How do you overcome self-loathing when it comes to your work? I feel like I need to recondition my mind.
